Soldeu, Andorra’s main ski area, is set on a steep hillside facing the valley and the Grandvalira ski area is shared with Pas de la Casa near the French border and El Tarter. Andorra offers excellent beginner and early intermediate terrain and rivals some of the serious Alpine resorts in terms of size. The local ski school has a very well run British section for English-speaking families and although Grandvalira doesn’t offer the dramatic scenery of some of the French resorts, it’s a great option for families looking for value for money and good childrens’ facilities.
The pinnacle of European skiing, Austria is home to many family friendly resorts, including Ischgl and Oberlech. While the resorts are usually located within valleys, they almost all have high altitude skiing which allows you to confidently travel early and late season.
Canada has wonderful skiing for families with frequent dumps of snow, generally quiet pistes, great grooming, spacious family-friendly hotels and a warm welcome.
The French Alps

The Swiss are perfectionists in many areas and their ski resorts are no different, with excellent chairlift infrastructure, wide expansive runs and fantastic ski schools. The resorts often appear untouched by modern influences, with very traditional family run hotels.
The big ol' US of A doesn't disappoint families when it comes to skiing and predictably offers world class resorts on a bold scale. Vail is an enormous ski resort, stretching almost four miles west from Denver.
