About The Hotel

We’re excited to present a carefully crafted collection of adventure tours and tailor made itineraries for families with older children. Recommended for children aged four upwards, this tour takes in Costa Rica’s most family-friendly and natural highlights including an ariel tram in Tortuguero National Park, a natural spa at the foot of the Arenal volcano and some time of the beach in Tamarindo. Tots Too exclusives include an afternoon spent with local family in Tortuguero and a nocturnal nature experience to spot species including the Red Eyed Tree Frog and the beautiful Glass Frog. Accommodation is in four and five star hotels, in family-sized rooms or suites.

All of our Costa Rican arrangements can be tailored to you and we will be happy to discuss your exact requirements and make recommendations in order to ensure you enjoy the best possible family holiday. In addition to touring itineraries, we can offer relaxing stay-put or twin-centre options in San Jose, Arenal, Manuel Antonio National Park and beyond. The following is an example itinerary, especially designed with families in mind.

Day 1 Arrive in San Jose

Arrive in San Jose and check in to the Marriott Costa Rica for a two-night stay. Voted by Condé Nast as one of the best hotels in Central America, this beautiful colonial hacienda sits on a 30-acre coffee plantation and serves up modern amenities in a laid-back environment. Unwind in either of our two swimming pools, the state-of-the-art fitness centre or well-lit tennis courts. There are a number of acclaimed restaurants, including La Castilla, where talented chefs prepare sushi right in front of guests. Sophisticated rooms and suites boast plush bedding and 24-hour room service.

Day 2 Costa Rica Ariel Tram

Take an Aerial Tram tour through the treetops of the primary rainforest. The open-air rain forest tram gondolas have canvas awnings and seat six passengers plus a naturalist guide. Includes: Transportation, Entrance Fee, Lunch & Guide. Make sure you bring comfortable shoes, raincoat, sunblock, mosquito repellent and binoculars. Overnight at the Marriot Costa Rica.

Day 3 Tortuguero

An early start, with a pre-breakfast transfer to La Pavona Pier. Stop midway for a delicious breakfast of eggs, homemade breads and sweet milk then continue towards the pier to take a boat to your Lodge in Tortuguero. Pachira Lodge is located only five minutes from the extraordinary Tortuguero National Park. Surrounded by a network of canals, Tortuguero considered one of the most beautiful regions of the world, characterised by its rich flora and fauna. Overnight at Pachira Lodge.

Day 4 Tortuguero

Take a guided boat tour at the Tortuguero National Park (park entrance fee not included, $15 per person and to be paid in the park), where you can enjoy the view and the exotic wildlife. Then during the afternoon, travel to Tortuguero to meet a local family for an insight into life in the this exotic climate. Overnight at Pachira Lodge.

Day 5 Arenal

Transfer to La Pavona Pier for your return boat journey and car to Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort for a two night stay. Located in a unique position close to the Arenal Volcano, with the heat of the Tabacon Hot Springs and the purity and mysticism of the surrounding rainforest, this location has been described as “paradise” or “the eight-wonder of the world”. The four elements of nature are present in this unique Arenal Volcano luxury hotel and resort, featuring the heat of the volcano, the flowing waters of the hot springs, the pure air of the rainforest and the fertile earth of the of the Fortuna de San Carlos Region. Overnight at the Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort. 

Day 6 Arenal

A free day to explore the natural park followed by a Nocturnal Natural Experience, discovering some of the country’s natural wonders in a night hike. The tour begins in a small town known as La Tigra, located just 30 minutes from La Fortuna. Follow the trail to a small patch of rainforest with mirrored lakes, which facilitate wildlife observation. You can expect to see species like nocturnal birds and mammals, insects, amphibians, bats, and more. The trail continues around the mirrored lakes to the frog sanctuary, which is an area dedicated to the regeneration and natural reproduction of frog species. Discover species such as the dart frog and the bull frog, the smallest and largest species in Costa Rica, as well as the spectacular Red Eyed Tree Frog, and the beautiful Glass Frog. After the tour, enjoy a delicious Costa Rican dinner prepared on a wood burning stove. Overnight at the Tabacón Grand Spa Thermal Resort. 

Days 7 – 10 Playa Conchal

Transfer to Conchal for a three night relaxing beach stay at the Westin Golf Resort & Spa. Spend your time unwinding on a luxurious Bali bed by the pool whilst the kids enjoy the kids club equipped with playground, games, movies and a full activity programme. Or indulge your adventurous side by exploring one of the nearby Costa Rican national parks. The Westin Golf Resort & Spa, Playa Conchal is Starwood’s first Costa Rica all-inclusive resort.

Day 11 San Jose

Transfer to San Jose for a final night at the Marriott Costa Rica in order to be closer to the airport for your return flight the next day (optional). Optional Costa Rica city tour.

Day 12

Return flight to the UK.
