About The Hotel
Canfields Farm is part of the Featherdown Farm collection in beautiful West Sussex. Nestling between the North and South Downs, join the slow lane for a peaceful stay in hugely comfortable tents. Canfields is a working, organic farm which offers guests of all ages a chance to muck in or just enjoy the wonderful natural surroundings.
Children will love the bluebell woods, right next to the tents, for den-building, stream-damming and deer- butterfly- and woodpecker-spotting, with a rare freedom to explore freely. Rent your own private chicken coop for your stay, allowing your children to feed and learn about the chickens (£10-£15 pw).
You can barbecue the farm’s own organic meat in your firepit by your tent. Pre-order a Camp Fire Pack, including a bundle of camp fire wood, kindling and marshmallows to toast, plus ingredients & instructions to make damper bread.
You can pre-order a range of hampers, barbecue box and other gourmet goodies for your tentside feasts. There is a brick outdoor bread oven for wood firing pizzas and jacket potatoes (lit for one evening during your stay).
The local village of Rudgwick boasts four local pubs headed up by the Fox just ten minutes’ walk away with its play-area and food served all day.
Featherdown Farm tents feature wood burners, flushing loos and proper beds. They accommodate up to 6 people (maximum 5 adults and 1 child up to 12 years). Your tent is equipped with glasses, cups, mugs, plates, cutlery, kitchen knives, chopping-boards, scissors, a coffee grinder, pans, cooking and baking equipment and serving spoons. You do not have to take anything from home.
Canfields is a great base for outings to Goodwood, Fontwell and Ascot; the opera at Glyndebourne; polo at nearby Hurstwood and Cowdray; and the wonderful summer music concerts at Petworth.
For golfers, there are five golf courses within five miles of the farm. Cyclists have plenty of on- or off-road opportunities to explore the rural landscape. Walkers will enjoy the South Downs Way or a scenic towpath stroll. Canal boat trips can be taken locally.
The cathedral towns of Guildford, Chichester and the old market town of Horsham are within easy driving distance.
