review of four seasons sharm el sheikh

Review of the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh,  by CC, guest in January 2011: "We were very happy with our holiday to the Four Seasons.  We were received promptly by a representative at the airport and the journey to the hotel was short.  Also the 3 car seats as requested were there for both journeys which is a rarity! Nice reception at the hotel, with a T-shirt, slippers and named cookies for the kids which were a big hit.  Staff were remarkably friendly at all times throughout the resort, room service was fast, lots of free fresh water and towels available.

The rooms, beds and bathrooms were lovely.
The pools were heated which was great for this time of year.
Most afternoons there was a free childrens buffet by the childrens pool from 12-3 which was very handy and the food quite good.
Glass bottom boat ride was a big hit.

Negatives:  Children's club was disappointing, not much going on and not many toys and no night entertainment for the kids.  Also my daughter was bitten quite badly by mosquitos on the 3rd night all over her face and hands as well as the baby.  Thankfully the staff were quicky to respond and sprayed the room and then provided a mossie net for the baby only as well as advice to keep doors shut in the evening etc. It would also be nice to have the option for mossie nets for the kids/us as after speaking with a member of staff he and his family always sleep under them during the winter.

Would go back again hopefully to snorkel."

Review of the Four Seasons Sharm El Sheikh, visited by our Travel Executive,
Ann-Maire Orpwood

I travelled to Egypt in 2008 and spent 2 nights at the Four Seasons Resort in Sharm El Sheikh. When our clients travel with us they are looked after by the Akorn Ground Agent and met as soon as you arrive in to the airport, the agent helps obtain visas and sees you safely through passport control out to the private vehicle that is waiting for you.  The hotel is only ten minutes from the airport although is in a quite area and is around ten minutes by taxi to Naama Bay.

We were met with a cool towel and an even cooler drink and were shown to our room on one of the hotel's many buggies which take clients around the resort. We stayed in a Deluxe Room with Sea View and on first impressions I thought the room was not only huge it was beautiful.  You have your own private walled garden, an open plan sitting area with bedroom and then a dressing room, walk in wardrobe and huge bathroom with separate bath and shower.

We spent the afternoon down at the large heated swimming pool soaking up the rest of the afternoon sun and sipping fruit cocktails.  The service here was impeccable as with all areas of the resort in any restaurant or bar, nothing is too much trouble and there are so many little touches in the room and at pool and beach that really make the trip, although I shall not spoil all of this for you by giving away all their secrets.

The hotel also boasts a number of one bedroom suites great for families of 4 with their separate bedroom and living area although it is also well worth considering a Gezirah Suite for families as this gives 2 separate bedrooms with a living area and kitchenette, a real home from home. Great for the little ones as it is right next to the kids club and near to the kids pool. Babysitting is available and the hotel will arrange bottle warmers, nappies etc through room service and will even supply an amenity pack for your first night in resort.

The hotel has a fabulous spa and gymnasium. I enjoyed a massage with my boyfriend in the couple's room. Even if you do not want to have a treatment you can still use the sauna, steam and Jacuzzi but its great to spend some time here before a massage to really help you to relax and unwind. The staff are very friendly and with a range of treatments available you are sure to come away feeling relaxed and renewed.

There are a choice of restaurants although breakfast is served in the Arabesque restaurant and it was amazing.  The best buffet I have ever seen with fresh stations available for fruit, eggs, pancakes etc  Everything you could possibly wish for and as they stay open until late you may not even need lunch. Although if you do they serve light snacks, sandwiches, pizzas at the bars and you can order room service anytime of day, which is great if you are arriving in late.  I thought the food was great but with the current exchange perhaps a little pricey and there was not a huge selection of wine.

Overall I loved my time at this hotel, I only spent 2 nights here, 3 days but I genuinely felt like I had been there a week as it was so peaceful within hours I was relaxing and getting into holiday mode.  The resort is stunning with its Arabian decor, immaculate grounds, fantastic facilities and fabulous staff. I would highly recommend this resort to families, couples, and solo travelers seeking relaxation, spa treatments and yoga.
