Amanda shares her top tips for February half term in the sunshine… “If you haven’t planned a getaway for October half term this year then we highly recommend booking now for February. February is one of our favourite times to escape, as the novelty of winter has firmly worn off and we’re craving the lighter mornings and warmer temperatures. Enough time has passed since Christmas for the festivities to be a distant memory but Spring still seems a long way off!
By booking now for February half term, not only do you have something to look forward to during the dreariest month of the year but you can also save, with lots of early booking offers and good flight prices. Of course, we’re all craving sunshine by the time January ends so we need to consider places with some guaranteed warmth. Long haul is the obvious choice but a ten-hour flight can be off-putting when you only have a week. All is not lost though – The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida is an all-encompassing sunshine destination for families and the flight to Orlando is just eight and a half hours.
Also at eight and a hour hours, Barbados offers a chilled-out family week with a choice of luxury hotels and self-catering villas. The Fairmont Royal Pavilion offers daily activities for kids including kayaking, football, beach cricket, treasure hunts and movies plays host to steel bands on the beach in the evenings. A tropical paradise and a welcome escape from freezing fog and icy roads.
If you prefer a shorter flight, Tots Too favourite the Canary Islands offer guaranteed winter sun. The Ritz-Carlton Abama in Tenerife has seven heated pools and a multitude of activities for kids and adults and with average temperatures of 18 degrees and 9 hours of sunshine in February, it’s a welcome escape from winter. Early booking offers for February half term tend to expire around the end of October, another good reason to plan ahead and book now.
If you’re looking for something different but still within four hours’ flying time, Marrakech is an exciting option for families. The weather is similar to that of the Canaries, with a high quota of sunshine and some great activities for slightly older children, including exploring the souks and taking a trip into the High Atlas mountains. The Four Seasons Marrakech tailors every family’s stay according to their individual tastes and the first class kids team work hard to make sure the little ones are happy.
Book now for February and replace the dark days and never-ending drizzle with sunshine and adventure.« Back to blog home
