Dhiren Discovers Costa Navarino
Posted on 22nd May 2015
This beautiful resort set in the natural and authentic part of the Peloponnese offers so much for all ages. The hour transfer in the luxury car didn’t feel long as we passed lovely olive groves, farm lands, small towns and lovely landscapes of the hills as a back drop. We had a personal welcome and were taken to our infinity rooms with private pool. The resort is only 5 years old but it feels, with all the personal and detailed touches, that it has been there for a long time as local stone is used all around the resort. The owner of the resort spent 25 years purchasing all the surrounding land to build this gorgeous resort with the sister hotel Romanos next door which was closed and opens at the end of May. It has a very relaxed feel and all the various greenery at the golf course adds to the feeling of space.
The Westin Resort Costa Navarino is built only three stories high, set in five areas around the pools and the village square. The five areas are called Alpha, Beta and Gamma, Delta and Epsilon. The various types of rooms are located within these five areas so it is easier to find and manoeuvre around the resort. The resort offers connecting rooms and family suites which are ideal for families and they are spacious. The décor is light with white and cream colours and airy. All the rooms which are infinity have individual pools and the ones which are premium are located closer the beach. The views range from resort, to pool view to sea view depending on the type of room one stays in.
The cuisine is varied and wonderful. We ate in the various restaurants ranging from Italian (Da Luigi), traditional Greek (Souvlakerie), Fine dining (Flame) and the Morias buffet (lots of variety here for breakfast and dinner). There are lots of other restaurants fully open in high season. For the Spa lovers, the Anazoe Spa is of delight combined with a High-density Salt water pool, Thalassotherapy pools and heat experience area. I tried a Herbal trilogy massage which was for 80 minutes and it combined a herbal bath followed by clay stamp body scrub and ended with a lavender massage which I came out feeling completely rejuvenated. In addition to the spa there is also a separate health club with indoor fresh water pool and a big gym with Pilates and yoga classes. The resort has great choice of pools for adults and children including baby pools with sun canopy so ideal for all age ranges.
For people who want more activities, you can do water sports (non-motorised on the beach and motorised sports arranged 10 minutes away from resort), rock climbing, walking tours and Bike Tours. We rode bikes to this beautiful secluded beach which was a half hour ride called Voidokilia Beach. One can play golf or learn to play golf in their beautiful immaculate golf course. I tried a hand at golf with one of the three professional trainers and it was a great experience but I have to say I am no Tiger Woods!! You can visit nearby villages and towns, one of them being Yalwa which is a 10 minute drive from the resort, to experience authentic Greek life. The resort has a recreational park for all ages of children with water slides, indoor mini cinema, 4 lane bowling alley and an interactive learning museum for families to learn about the flora and fauna of the region.
In a nutshell this resort offers so much for everyone from tiny tots to teens to adults. It’s a resort which blends in perfectly with the unspoilt and natural authentic surroundings.« Back to blog home
