Just south of India and in the Indian Ocean; Sri Lanka offers a diverse landscape ranging from sandy beaches and highlands to arid plains and rich rainforests. Well known for its Buddhist ruins, landscape, food and of course an abundance of nature your family will experience a once in a lifetime adventure.  Your trip will start in Colombo, then off to explore all Sri Lanka has to offer. From visiting several World Heritage Sites, safaris, train rides, hiking and more, finishing your 13-day itinerary with a few days of relaxation in Anuradhapura.

This bespoke itinerary and hotels have been chosen for their suitability for families and offer luxury facilities.


Day 1

Arrive in Colombo to be greeted by the VIP rep who will help you through the airport and take you to the UGA Residence. Settle and unwind into your boutique hotel, nestled between leafy Park Street and the lakeside Buddhist shrine of Gangaram. The afternoon will be spent experiencing the bustle of Colombo, from the best street food to a glimpse of the diverse culture and religions, then finish with kite flying on Galle Face Green.


Day 2/3

Transfers to the World Heritage Site of Galle and the Jetwing Lighthouse. Spend the day exploring the 17th century Dutch Galle Fort with an array of antiques, cafes and local stores. The next day can be spent at leisure on the beach or enjoy an array of activities from whale watching to village cycling and lagoon canoeing.


Day 4

Up bright and early to the Udawalawe National Park where you will visit a small sugar cane mill. Then spend the rest of the afternoon on privately guided Safari in the park with the evening spent in a big game tented campsite.


Day 5

Visit the Elephant transit home based in the park to observe feeding time followed by checkout after breakfast. Then it’s off to the stunning central highland in Ella, on the way visiting a tea factory. The rest of the day is spent at your leisure at Secret Ella with an option to explore Little Adams Peak, Ravnana Falls or the 9 arches bridge.

Day 6

After breakfast, it’s off to the Ella Railway Station with a train ride through the beautiful landscape from Ella ending in the colonial English town of Nuwera Eliya. You will be collected by a chauffeur and taken to Secret Kandy Hotel based in another World Heritage Site and Sri Lanka’s last Royal Kingdom.


Day 7

Explore the Botanical Gardens which is home to over 10,000 plus tress. Enjoy a guided walk through with an insightful guide who will give insight into the history of the gardens. From there it’s off to meet the locals – spend the afternoon with a local dance teacher, followed by a traditional curry cooking class for the whole family to enjoy.


Day 8

Checkout after breakfast and transfer to your Eco Lodge in Sigiriya, after a late lunch you will visit a rural primary school and learn some Sinhalese. Then relax and unwind in nature in your lodge with al fresco showers and river surroundings.


Day 9

Take a packed breakfast for the climb to the summit of Sigiriya, it’s essential to climb first thing to avoid crowds. After climbing down its off to meet some local farmers and enjoy a walk through their farm where you will gain insight into the lives of locals.

Day 10/11

After a slow start, it off to explore Dambulla Rock Temple on a guided trek. This is the largest cave temple complex in Sri Lanka dating back to the 1st Century. The family can spend the rest of the afternoon and following day relaxing in the Ulagalla resort. Late afternoon you will be off to explore the spectacular 24,000 year old archaeological ruins of the sacred city of Anuradhapura.

Day 12

Finale day spent relaxing and enjoying the beach!
