You can't get closer to the blue sea than at LUX* Maldives (formerly known as Diva), an island resort surrounded by a clear lagoon, with many of the villas set on stilts over the crystal clear water. LUX* Maldives lives up to the dream of a paradise island with colourful marine life. With excellent childcare you are free to make the most of the famous dive sites or take a romantic picnic to a desert island. The resort's own marine biologist is on hand to explain the wonders beneath the waves to parents and kids alike.

Special touches at LUX* Maldives include hidden pathways leading to impromptu cinema screenings on the beach and secret honesty bars dotted around the resort.

For the family

The kids club at LUX* Maldives has a variety of supervised activities for each age group. Kids can even have lunch and dinner at the club with their friends. The children will love the sandy beaches and welcoming lagoon.

There are some special activities including coconut painting, calligraphy, Bodu Beru dance, crab racing, making shell necklaces, henna painting, palm weaving, pirate crafts, puppet making and yoga classes specifically for children. Why not try a spot of Teddy Tennis or cake decorating too?

Children can also earn their Young Mixologist Certificate, learning how to mix their favourite juices, and try the Young Environmentalist Programme which includes a tour with the chief gardener of the tropical flora on the island, plus a visit to the herb garden and orchid nursery. Children also receive their own back pack, caps, t-shirts, colour pens and book for use during their stay. Personalised birthday parties can also be organised on request. New to LUX* Maldives, the resort now offers kids cooking classes too.

Teens meet daily at 5pm to get to know other guests on the island and plan activities. The Musik club operates as a sports cafe throughout the day and has a play station, Wii, soccer table, as well as a non-alcoholic bar. Most Tuesday nights Musik will operate a nightclub between 21.00 and 23.00 serving non alcoholic drinks.

Dining

If you work up an appetite trying your hand at all the activities on offer, you'll enjoy the seven restaurants serving a wide range of food. At lunch you can enjoy the fresh local seafood grill by the beach or something more familiar with western favourites widely available. At the aptly named ‘East’ you will be able to tuck into the best of Cambodian, Indonesian, Thai, Sri Lankan, Hong Kong and Chinese-style buffets. There are other lighter meals not to mention drinks on offer at the resorts bars and other restaurants!

Accommodation

Guests have the option of staying in water villas based in the islands lagoon which have the novelty of a stairway leading down to the water, allowing you to dive when the wish arises. The villas are finished using local Maldivian wood flooring, the finest Egyptian cotton sheets and Pierre Frey fabrics from Paris which give bedrooms a warm and luxurious feel. The décor follows on from the lagoon colour, with hints of turquoise and shades of beige and ochre.
