The big ol’ US of A doesn’t disappoint families when it comes to skiing and predictably offers world class resorts on a bold scale. Vail is an enormous ski resort, stretching almost four miles west from Denver. Beaver Creek, around half an hour away, is covered by the lift pass and is easily reached by bus and Breckenridge and Keystone – both owned by Vail Resorts and covered by the lift pass – as well as Copper Mountain are other possible excursions.
Vail offers a huge range of accommodation and is famous for its excellent ski school with dedicated teaching areas and plenty of terrain for all abilities, as well as a childcare for three different age groups. Most of all, Vail has a huge slate of non-skiing family activities. At the top of the gondola, the mountain operates the unique Adventure Ridge, an entire complex devoted to family fun during the day and night, with lighted, lift-served tubing runs, kids’ snowmobiles, and snow bikes. In Vail Village, there is one of the only bowling alleys at any major ski resort, a new gourmet movie theatre that serves a wide menu of fun and tasty snacks and two ice rinks.
