About The Hotel

We’re excited to present a carefully crafted collection of adventure tours and tailor made itineraries for families keen to venture “off the beaten track”. Our director Deborah recently travelled to Thailand with her three children aged 10, 8 and 3 and this itinerary details their adventure. Highlights include time in Bangkok with a cruise along the Chao Phraya River, the Flight of the Gibbon zip wire adventure in Chiang Mai, visiting a Karen hill tribe village, a stay at Elephant Hills and some time on the beach in Krabi and Phuket. Accommodation is in well-priced five star hotels in family rooms or luxury tents in the case of Elephant Hills.

All of our Thailand arrangements can be tailored to you and we will be happy to discuss your exact requirements and make recommendations in order to ensure you enjoy the best possible family holiday. In addition to touring itineraries we can offer relaxing stay-put or twin-centre options in Bangkok, Koh Samui, Phuket and beyond.

Day 1

Arrive in Bangkok

On arrival at Bangkok International Airport we include a fast track VIP meet and greet service followed by a private transfer to your hotel. Enjoy some free time to relax after your long journey (early check-in subject availability). Overnight at The Peninsula Bangkok.

Day 2

Flower Market, Wat Po and Khao San Road

After breakfast, visit Pak Klong Talad flower market. This huge flower market is a photographer’s dream with orchids and blossoms from Thailand’s cooler north, along with exotic vegetables and fruit. Take a Tuk Tuk to Wat Po, the largest temple in Bangkok, with its colossal Reclining Buddha and the Chedis of the Kings.

In the afternoon, take a cruise along the Chao Phraya River – the city’s lifeblood – and the canals of Thonburi for a glimpse of the serene and simple lifestyle of riverbank dwellers. En route, stop at Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn), one of the most attractive temples in Thailand before disembarking at Phra Athit Pier and taking a walk down the Khao San Road.

Overnight at The Peninsula Bangkok. Breakfast included.

Day 3

Bangkok – Chiang Rai

After breakfast, transfer to Bangkok airport for your flight to Chiang Rai. On arrival, transfer to the Anantara Golden Triangle Resort for an overnight stay.

Day 5

Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai

After breakfast, transfer to Chiang Mai (approx. 4 hours) and check in to your hotel before a “City and Temples” tour. Take a “Sam Lor“, or tricycle, to Waroros Market, a huge and bustling market with colourful displays of flowers, tropical fruit, fabrics and ceramic wares. Stop to try some local food and then visit the two most important temples in Chiang Mai: Wat Phra Singh and Wat Chedi Luang. Watch the evening chanting of the monks before returning to your hotel.

Overnight at Dhara Dhevi Hotel. Breakfast included.

Day 6

Chiang Mai: The Flight of the Gibbon

The Flight of the Gibbon, just 45 minutes’ drive from Chiang Mai, is an exhilarating opportunity to soar through 1500 year old rain forest, high above the forest floor on the longest zipline in the world. The unique system enables you to view jungle life from a perspective previously reserved for a select group of researchers. You are taken high into the canopy using an ingenious series of platforms, cables, trails and sky bridges.  Note: Minimum age is 5 years up and minimum height is 100m.

Overnight at Dhara Dhevi Hotel. Breakfast included.

Day 7

Chiang Dao Family Adventure

Your guide will meet you at the hotel after an early breakfast for a full day visiting Chiang Dao and a Karen hill tribe village. First stop is the local market at Mae Malai where your guide will show you the herbs and vegetables used in Thai cooking as well as weird and wonderful local products. Continue to the rafting camp for bamboo rafting before going off the beaten track to a Karen hill tribe village to meet the villagers and learn about their way of life. After this, hike to a nearby Lisu village whose income has been derived from the cultivation of the opium poppy for many centuries followed by an Akha village, distinguished by their carved wooden gates presided over by guardian spirits and a Palong Village. Note that this part of the itinerary entails 2 – 3 hours of walking through jungle; if, like Deborah, you have children under 5 a porter will assist with carrying them.

After this walk, return to the truck and head back to Chiang Mai, arriving late afternoon.

Things to Bring: Hiking shoes with good grip, flip flops, sun cream, a hat, insect repellent (DEET medicated).

Note: Due to weather conditions and other conditions on the ground we might have to adjust the itinerary of this trekking. If it is necessary to adjust the program we will always make sure that the quality of your experience and your personal safety are prioritised.

Overnight at Dhara Dhevi Hotel. Breakfast and lunch included.

Day 8

Elephant Hills

After breakfast, fly to Krabi for a 3 day, 2 night experience at Elephant Hills elephant camp, staying in a luxury tent. Enjoy feeding, washing and interacting with Asia’s elephants in an almost untouched environment. Take a canoe safari down the Sok River. In the evening, enjoy dance performances and a cooking demonstration.

Overnight at Elephant Hills. Breakfast included.

Day 9
