Ticos, the 1,000-square-metre freshwater main pool, is joined on either side by two smaller pools, with a nearby whirlpool grotto. Guests can enjoy an aquatic workout or relax in a comfortable chaise longue, as Four Seasons attendants bring cocktails and complimentary fruit, water and other treats. The lively Blanca pool overlooks Playa Blanca (the activities beach) and at the Kids For All Seasons kids club, children enjoy their own 50-square-metre kids swimming pool with a shallow beach-style entrance, along with kid-size chaises longues in the shade nearby. A variety of pool toys and frozen treats is available at the toddler pool.
Activities include beach football, volleyball, bird watching, cooking classes, horseback riding, water sports and golf atop one of Peninsula Papagayo’s highest plateaus, overlooking the jewelled waters of Bahía de Culebra. The spa offers holistic treatments inspired by nature and families can enjoy The Trail of Giants, a guided tour through the tropical dry forest home to endangered birds, monkeys, iguanas, butterflies and over 25 species of giant tree, or hiking through the peninsula.
Accommodation is divided into rooms, suites and private residences. The entry level open-plan Terraza rooms sleep up to two adults and two children and are situated on the ground floor with a private terrace with views of the native tropical landscape and dry forest. For families who need more space the one bedroom suites have one double bedroom plus a separate living room with sofa bed and are built into the hillside to afford lovely views, some with plunge pool. There are also three bedroom suites and luxurious private residences with heated infinity pools for extended families, sleeping up to 14 people.
Specialising in Latin and Italian cuisine, the Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo uses fresh local Costa Rican ingredients to create innovative menus. Set overlooking the acclaimed Arnold Palmer designed golf course, Caracol restaurant is the Resort’s premier American Steakhouse. Cena Sociale specialises in modern Mediterranean cuisine inspired by the Amalfi Coast of Italy and kids will love CR Burger Shack serving Costa Rican-style burgers, including mahi mahi burgers, as well as other sandwich selections, french fries, watermelon pinchos and shakes in a relaxed outdoor setting.
As part of the Kids for All Seasons kids club program, children are immersed in the culture of Costa Rica with endless opportunities to learn about their surrounding environment. Upon arrival, they’re presented with a welcome amenity and an invitation to join Tiquito, the Papagayo mascot, at the Children’s Centre. The program offers a weekly schedule of events, featuring activities and arts and crafts using local materials. Supervised explorations take children in search of local insects, reptiles and plants and other activities include a hermit crab hunt, treasure collecting on the beach, sand castle building, birdwatching, and soccer. After a long day, kids can relax by their own private pool, or enjoy nightly story time from 6pm to 8pm. For indoor fun, a wide selection of movies, games and puzzles is available. The center also provides a recreation room complete with a ping pong table, computers with high-speed Internet access and an entertainment system.
Teens can enjoy the Tuanis Teen Center, located just steps from the basketball court with a games room and Concierge who can organise outdoor adventure excursions including zip-lining through lush treetops, white-water rafting, jungle adventures, snorkeling explorations, sunset kayaking and volcano hikes. Weekly fitness classes include mat Pilates, kickboxing, yoga and stretching. Teens can also get manicures and pedicures at the Spa or attend golf or tennis lessons or Spanish, cooking, Latin dance or Bubblemaker scuba classes.
Cots, high chairs and baby and toddler equipment are all available on request.

The Kids for All Seasons kids club is open daily between 8am and 530pm and is complimentary for children aged 4 - 12 years.
The resort is built into a hillside and some rooms are accessed via steps or slopes. The ground floor Terraza rooms are best for families with a pushchair.
The resort is around 40 minutes' drive from Liberia airport which connects with a choice of US hubs.
There is a separate children's pool at the kids club heated to 25.5 degrees.
Child and infant car seats are available for airport transfers.
The Tuanis Teen Center is open daily from 1pm unti 10pm and offers teens a complimentary games centre, concierge and sporting activities.
