About The Hotel
Originally opened in 1953, Round Hill hotel Round Hill Hotel and Villas was conceived by a Jamaican-born entrepreneur John Pringle, who invited prominent American and European socialites, literati and artists to build private cottages on his land. Round Hill soon became the private haunt of style icons and the jet set including Sir Noel Coward, Adele Astaire, Bill and Babe Paley, Lord and Lady Ednam and Oscar Hammerstein. Today, Round Hill retains its old-school glamour and delivers the same high level of services. Many of the villas are still owned by the next generation of the original families. When the owners are not in residence, the cottages are available for rent either as a full villa or villa suites. Round Hill is located just west of Montego Bay, Jamaica, on the island’s north coast. The resort is a twenty-minute drive from Sangster International Airport, and approximately 10 hours flight time from the UK.
Round Hill comprises 26 individually owned villas and the 36-room Pineapple House surrounded by 110 acres of lush tropical gardens. Designed by Ralph Lauren, The Pineapple House features 36 oceanfront guestrooms overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the double infinity-edge pool. The upper-level rooms have spacious vaulted ceilings and large louvered windows which fold back to take full advantage of breath-taking views. The lower-level rooms have spacious patios or balconies. The villas feature two through six bedroom suites, living rooms, verandas and magnificent views. Some of the villas have private pools. Each villa bedroom is ensuite with its own bathroom and terrace. Guests may book a private, complete villa with a private pool and dedicated staff, or individual villa suites can be booked. Each of the 26 villas is beautifully decorated by its individual owner, and all rooms and villas come with luxury amenities including daily housekeeping and turndown service, luxury bathroom amenities and bathrobes, airconditioning, Wi-Fi, round hill app and in-room tablets amongst other amenities.
Dining options at the resort include The Grill, Seaside Terrace, Cocktail Bar, complimentary high tea as well as private in-villa dining. Guests may also enjoy light snacks and refreshments beachside at the Beach and Pool Bars. Guests who book a complete villa can enjoy meals catered and served by their personal villa staff. Children’s menus are available, and themed evenings including beach barbeques and farm-to-table evenings take place throughout the week. The See, Touch and Taste Program allows guests to pick their own vegetables directly from the on-site garden, which the chef will then prepare in the kitchen for their afternoon or evening meal in their private villa.
Families can enjoy complimentary use of Round Hill’s Pineapple Kid’s Club. Expanded to accommodate children of all ages, the program promotes fun and education with a host of enriching activities to create an active and imaginative holiday. Daily activities include pick-up soccer games, nature walks, a creative assortment of arts and crafts, water sports, talent shows, reggae lessons and movie and story hour. The club also features an Xbox, a foosball table and a variety of additional activities to entertain young adults as well as children. The club is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Nanny service is available at a surcharge.
The Spa at Round Hill is located in a beautifully restored 18th Century Plantation House on 10 acres of beachfront lawn. Facilities include a full-service beauty salon, seven treatment rooms as well as the Garden Loft amidst the lush Jamaican rainforest. The 2,300sq. ft. fitness enter/gym consists of an open courtyard for outdoor stretches and cardio, an open pavilion for the yoga enthusiast and two enclosed air-conditioned pavilions with modern gym equipment. Waterports including kayaks, snorkeling, waterskiing and fishing are available from the watersports centre located on the private sandy beach and golf is available at the 18-hole championship golf course.
